Air pollution has been a burden on the residents of southwestern Pennsylvania for decades, and while cities like Pittsburgh have made vast improvements-there is still more work to be done.
One of many contributors to this air pollution are vehicles and one of the most vulnerable populations are children. Within this online course, participants will learn about our regional air quality issues, the effect on children's health, and the importance of not idling. Course participants will be able to:
- Evaluate vehicular idling at their child care facility.
- Identify at least three reasons individuals should stop idling.
- Summarize some possible negative health outcomes of children exposed to air pollution.
Space is extremely limited and programs are asked to only register one staff member at a time. The first 15 programs to complete the online course will receive a FREE "No Idling" outdoor sign. PQAS hours will be offered.
This course is offered in collaboration with the Group Against Smog and Pollution (GASP).
