Founded by the PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., PNC Grow Up Great is a $350 million, multi-year, bilingual initiative that began in 2004. The program is designed to help prepare children --particularly underserved children-- from birth to age five for success in school and life. To date, the program has served more than 1.5 million children.
In partnership with PNC Grow Up Great, PAEYC is working to support early childhood financial literacy education in southwestern Pennsylvania. We are working to increase the financial knowledge of early childhood educators, children and families/caregivers by utilizing the Sesame Workshop For Me, for You, for Later: First Steps to Spending, Sharing, and Saving resources.
By engaging educators and families through our financial literacy initiative, PAEYC is helping to establish a foundation for financial education of young children between the ages 3 and 5. Through outreach and training, educators and family members/caregivers will gain substantive knowledge in financial literacy and research-based, age-appropriate financial concepts for young children. We are looking to reach nearly 1125 educators and 16,000 children and families over the two-year span of the program through professional development, family night events, evaluation, and outreach.
With support from PNC Grow Up Great, we hope to positively impact the financial futures of children and families in southwestern Pennsylvania for generations to come. For more information about this initiative, contact Sue Polojac.
