Compassion fatigue is inevitable in the early childhood profession. Teachers and administrators become invested in their children and families. But, it’s important that you not only take care of your children but also take care of yourself. Co-hosted with Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, UnConference: Mindfulness dives into topics related to mindfulness – a state of being present and aware – including: the need for a healthy environment, how different factors affect infant mental health, how to use meditation to help children self-regulate their behavior, the importance of good nutrition, and more.
PAEYC is excited to host this UnConference with our co-host Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. The day also features a keynote speaker and workshop presentations by leading local organizations. The day closes with a round table discussion and reflections on how to continue mindfulness beyond the UnConference.
The workshops are developmentally appropriate practice for educators and caregivers working with children ages birth through age nine. However, many of the workshop offerings can also apply to students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
